For the planning, steering and managing of projects we use Prince2. This project management system ensures that projects are completed within a set time, budget, quality and scope. 2organize has a large team of Prince2 certified project managers.
The Prince2 approach is divided into a number of phases, every one of which contains a decisive moment for management. The next phase is carried out once a go-ahead has been received from the Project Board. This steering group is entirely responsible for the project and consists of delegates from the client and 2organize who are authorised to make decisions regarding the project.
The project phases are:
- Start: In this phase we evaluate whether the proposed idea is feasible and whether the products to be delivered contribute sufficiently to the organisation’s objectives. The goal, content and organisation of the project are described globally in the Project Brief, the final product of the start phase.
- Initiation: In this phase the organisational content of the project planning and the definition of the products to be delivered are done. During the project initiation a strong and accepted blueprint for the project is established in the form of a Project Initiation Document (PID). As part of the PID, the realisation of a functional and technical design could be necessary. When the client gives a ‘go’ on the Project Brief, the initiation phase can be started.
- Execution: This phase is aimed at managing the project, making sure that the products are delivered on time, within the budget and according to the set quality requirements. The project execution begins after the PID has been approved.
- Close: In this last phase the product is delivered and transferred to the managing organisation. The project is evaluated and any subsequent activities to the project are defined. After approval of the Project Board, the project is closed.
